Clever CloseLine Shortlisted New Products Competition at Glee 2010

Atacama International is a young Irish design and development company run by Darren Rudden, Colin O'Brien and Greg Tobin. They are based in Dublin and their flagship product is the Clever CloseLine. The Clever CloseLine is the world's only rotary clothes dryer with an automatic, rain sensitive cover. At the first drops of rain, a rain sensor activates a cover which deploys over your clothes, protecting them from the rain. When the rain stops, the cover automatically retracts allowing for the full benefits of UV drying and aeration. The Clever CloseLine also has a side mesh attached which protects from rain falling at an angle. The unit is powered by a 12V rechargeable battery which will last minimum of 2-3 weeks depending on weather conditions, and the battery can be taken out and fully recharged in 4-5 hours.

The Clever CloseLine retails at just €299 which is cheaper than a tumble dryer. By using the Clever CloseLine instead of a tumble dryer, customers can recoup the cost in under 2 years through energy cost savings and they can also decrease their household carbon emissions by up to 10% annually.

They exhibited the Clever CloseLine at Glee which is the UK's premier home and garden trade show and were short listed in the new products competition. Given the stature of this show and the judging panel, this was a fantastic achievement and endorsement of their product. They also exhibited at the Tullamore Show in August and the public reaction was phenomenal. They also won the best invention at the show in the Labour Saving Device category.
